Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026
The short version Adnota is free. Use it for anything legal. We make no promises it'll work, and we're not liable if it doesn't. Don't use it to harm others or violate other sites' terms.

Acceptance

By installing or using Adnota — the Chrome extension or this website — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

What Adnota is

Adnota is a Chrome extension that lets you annotate, highlight, erase, draw on, and resize parts of any webpage. All data is stored locally on your device. The marketing site at adnota.app exists to describe the extension and collect feature feedback.

License to use

Adnota is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use, subject to these terms. You may install and use the extension on any number of your own devices. You may not:

Your responsibility for what you do with it

Adnota is a tool. You are solely responsible for how you use it. Annotating, modifying, or erasing parts of a webpage on your own device is generally legal, but the contents you create are yours, and your use of them is your responsibility.

No warranty

Adnota is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular site.

Web pages change. Extensions break. Browsers update. We do our best to keep Adnota working, but we cannot guarantee that any annotation, highlight, or modification will persist or render correctly indefinitely.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Adnota, its developers, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the extension or the website. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for Adnota — which, since Adnota is free, is zero.

Third-party services and websites

The marketing site embeds resources from third parties (Google Fonts, Featurebase, Cloudflare). The extension operates on third-party websites you choose to visit. We are not responsible for the content, behavior, or terms of any third-party site or service. See the Privacy Policy for details on what those services do.

Changes to the service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Adnota — in part or in whole — at any time, with or without notice. Because all your data is stored locally, your annotations remain on your device even if the extension is no longer updated.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of Adnota after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Adnota shall be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction.
